This small rodent is known from the Vilcabamba Range of southeastern Peru. Its original description used a specimen collected in forest at 3,350 m.
The back is buff-brown and the belly buffy yellow. The long tail has a white tip; pinnae are small, and forefeet have silvery-white hairs.
The specimen came from high-elevation elfin forest with scattered Polylepis, Weinmannia, and Chusquea, on deep moss-covered ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
