The Western naked-backed fruit bat occurs in Indonesia and Timor-Leste in the Lesser Sunda Islands. The life-history details here are mainly from field observations on Timor.
In the Timor account, adults were described as olive-green, with a brighter lower neck and chest in males.
On Timor, it was recorded roosting in caves and rock fissures and feeding on fruits including Borassus, Muntingia, and Ficus.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
