A porcupine from the Middle East to South and Central Asia, protected by long quills.
Its back is covered in layered quills banded in white and brown-black. The quills on the neck and shoulders are especially long, and some hollow tail quills rattle when shaken.
It is mainly active at night and rests in caves, rock crevices, or burrows by day. It mostly eats plants and raises its quills and rattles its tail quills when threatened.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
