This mouse is securely known from Mindanao in the Philippines. Its species account suggests it may occur in evergreen tropical rainforest, while records from other islands remain tentative.
The back and head are tawny brown, the sides paler, and the underparts gray with white-tipped hairs. Patches of all-white fur occur on the chest.
Capture localities suggest that it may occur in lowland and montane evergreen tropical rainforest.
