A small gerbil known from a few sites along Sudan’s White Nile. Taxonomic sources use either Gerbillus stigmonyx or Dipodillus stigmonyx.
Its back is sandy orange, while the belly, cheeks, chin, throat, and feet are white. The moderately long tail ends in a dark hair pencil.
Records are from rocky plains and open grassland on consolidated sands along the White Nile. The handbook says it is probably terrestrial, nocturnal, and a burrower; food and breeding are unreported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
