Males are described with dark striped coats and females with reddish-brown coats. HMW (2011) gives the type area south of Yambio, while leaving unresolved whether Sudd animals belong to the same taxon.
Males are dark brown with stripes and rows of flank spots. Females are dark reddish brown, with fainter, often broken stripes.
HMW reports that the type specimens were collected in forest with dense understory, by small streams in deep ravines. This records a collection setting and may not represent the species’ full habitat.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
