The fringed myotis is a bat of western North America. Short hairs fringe the edge of its tail membrane, and females form nursery roosts in the southern United States.
Its back is light brown, its underside is off-white, and short hairs line the edge of the tail membrane. The species name refers to this fringe.
At summer maternity roosts in the southern United States, females remain with the young while other adults go out to forage. Males are usually absent from these nursery roosts.
