The diminutive woodrat is a small rodent of the mountains of western Mexico. Few records exist, so much of its ecology remains poorly known.
Its dorsal fur is cinnamon-buff and darker along the back than the sides. The backs of the hind feet are usually white, and the tail is distinctly two-toned with a white tip.
It has been recorded in high-elevation conifer and pine-oak forests, on rocky slopes and in ravines. A 2005 report included sites above 2,000 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
