The Peru account places this bird in the lowlands of Loreto and central Ucayali, where it forms small groups and mixed flocks in the forest canopy. Its yellow tail has a black terminal band. The account also uses Ocyalus latirostris; this entry retains the pool name Cacicus latirostris.
In the close view described by the Peru account, a dark chestnut hood extends through the neck to the upper back; the body is black, the iris cyan, the bill pale yellow, and the yellow tail ends in a dark band, with the central pair also dark.
In Peruvian lowland forest, it occurs in the canopy in small conspecific groups and mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
