This dove is extinct in the wild but survives under expert care. Its last wild record was in 1972; a return to Socorro Island is planned after invasive species are removed.
The head and underparts are deep cinnamon, the upperparts darker brown, and the scapulars and wing-coverts carry bold black spots. The legs are pinkish and the bill dark grey.
Zoo observations describe it as spending time near the ground and moving mostly on foot; it eats fruit and nests in trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
