This liocichla was documented around Eaglenest in Arunachal Pradesh, northeastern India. Observations included sites from roadside scrub to primary forest.
The olive body has an erectile black cap, a triangular orange-yellow patch in front of the eye, and a bright yellow streak behind it. The breast is bright yellow-olive, and the wing carries golden-yellow, crimson, and white patches.
Field records placed it from the ground to the canopy. Birds hopped on the ground and moved through undergrowth and tangled vines. Observers recorded flocks of two to six in January, and pairs as well as small flocks in April and May.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
