This medium-sized warbler lives in papyrus wetlands. The 2017 amended IUCN assessment lists records in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The upperparts are warm olive-brown to russet, especially on the tail. The underparts are yellow, with olive shading across the breast and flanks.
It is found mainly in papyrus swamps, usually alone or in pairs. It searches the middle and upper papyrus for tiny insects and may also feed above water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
