The Ochre-bellied Dove is a South American pigeon that walks quietly near the forest floor. Its ochre-colored belly and use of the forest understory stand out.
The upperparts are somewhat dull, with a purplish wash on the crown, nape, and upper mantle. The belly is ochre and the breast has a purple wash. White spots on the outer tail feathers can help identify a brief view in flight.
It is often seen walking near the forest floor, though it has also been recorded feeding higher in fruiting trees. Its overall diet is poorly known, but one observation recorded it eating fruits of Trichilia trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
