The agile kangaroo rat hops on long hind feet. It lives in dry scrub, digs burrows, and carries seeds in its cheek pouches.
Its hind feet are elongated for hopping. Fur-lined cheek pouches on either side of the mouth carry food.
Seeds make up most of its diet, though it may also eat insects and other vegetation. It uses its cheek pouches to move food and its front feet in burrow construction.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
