The rufous bettong is a marsupial with reddish-brown fur and a furred muzzle. It rests in a grass-built nest by day and looks for food at night.
Its reddish-brown back is flecked with pale hairs, and its underside is lighter. The muzzle is furred, and black fur behind the ears is distinctive.
It is mainly nocturnal and rests in its nest by day. It gathers grass, dry ferns, and other plant material with its forepaws, then uses its tail to place the material in a one-entrance, cone-shaped nest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
