A large hummingbird of Central America. Its bronze-green plumage has pale feather edges on the throat and breast that create a scaled look; it visits flowers and may catch insects in flight.
Adults are bronze-green, with broad dull-buff edges on the throat, breast and flanks. The belly is grayish buff, and the tail corners are dull white.
It uses forest canopy and edges, partly open sites with scattered trees, mangroves and cacao plantations. Field observations recorded it feeding at flowering trees and catching small insects in flight.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
