The Dulit Frogmouth is a nocturnal bird of a few Bornean mountain areas. Its cryptic colors blend with branches, and it nests on branches in Sarawak.
It is smaller and darker than the similar Large Frogmouth, with mostly hexagonal white wing spots.
A low, whistling night call is reported. At a nest in Sarawak, an adult stayed on the branch during the day and left in the evening; both parents and a chick were observed together.
The March 2014 Ba’kelalan nest stood in secondary forest at 970 m, in a branch fork 4 m high and 20 m from a river. It was a small cup with whitish feathers hanging beside the branch.
A downy chick was seen on 19 March and a well-developed chick with both parents on 9 April. By 22 April it had fledged and perched with both adults away from the nest.
At 19:30 on 3 March 2014, one Ba’kelalan bird gave a low, level whistle three times in quick succession.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
