The Upemba Shrew is known from the Upemba region of southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. A 2005 paper says that only two specimens collected in 1926 were known at that time; habitat information remains uncertain, with sources pointing to swamp or tentatively to savanna.
The Mammals of Africa species table reports a mean head-and-body length of 118 mm. This gives a size reference, not a full description of coat or shape.
A 2005 paper says the species was then known only from its holotype and paratype, both collected in 1926. Those records do not describe its behavior or diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
