The Algerian Nuthatch is a small bird endemic to mountain forests in northeastern Algeria. Recent breeding research has monitored nests in several forests.
The back is blue-gray and the underside is cream with a russet tone. Males show a distinct black band from the forehead past the eye; in females it is paler and less defined.
A 2021 study monitored 22 nests across five forests; 20 were built in trunks or branches of dead trees, including Atlas cedar and oak species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
