Large ears and a black-tipped tail help identify this deer.
Its ears are large and its tail has a black tip. Males grow branching antlers, which are shed in winter after the breeding season and begin growing again in spring.
It is often active around dawn and dusk, though human activity and other disturbance can shift activity to daytime or night. It eats grasses and other herbaceous plants in spring and summer, as well as young shoots, leaves, bark, buds, and acorns.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
