Tachyoryctes daemon is a rodent from Mount Kilimanjaro in northern Tanzania. Adults in its original description had dark tawny fur and dark faces.
The three adult specimens in the 1909 original description had dark tawny fur and dark faces. Adult skulls had a linear, weakly developed sagittal crest.
During a survey from 26 July to 3 August 2002, two animals were caught at a site on Kilimanjaro’s southeastern slope. The site was at 2,897m, where montane forest met an ericaceous shrub zone.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
