The Hook-billed Vanga is endemic to Madagascar. It has a hooked bill, and breeding pairs share care of the nest and young.
It is about 25–29 cm long, with black-and-white plumage and a hooked black bill tipped with silver. The tail is grey and black, and the sexes show little plumage difference.
A breeding study at two Madagascar sites found five nests 3–10 m above ground. Two adults shared nest building, incubation, and chick care; they brought nestlings small prey, mainly geckos and chameleons.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
