This shrew occurs in Sri Lankan highland forest. Its back is brown, and its tail is much longer than its head and body.
Its dorsal fur is brown and the underside slightly lighter. The tail is about 1.35–1.55 times the head-and-body length.
A rainforest study recorded it both in the forest interior and along the forest edge.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
