The eastern roe deer lives across northern Asia and parts of central Asia. It was once treated as a subspecies of the western roe deer, but the account treats it as a distinct species.
Only males have antlers. Coat colour changes with the season: it is mainly taupe in winter and more reddish orange in summer.
Males defend territories during the mating season. Females give birth in spring, with twins reported as the most common outcome.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
