This fruit bat has records in Malawi and Tanzania. The Malawi species account describes few certain specimens and one individual caught over a stream.
The bat is small to medium-sized and brown. Adult males have white shoulder epaulettes.
The Malawi species account lists miombo woodland and forest edges. The holotype was caught over a stream between two fruiting Syzygium cordatum trees; the source explicitly says it is not known whether it was feeding on the fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
