A small warbler that catches insects high in eastern North American forests. It is bluish grey with yellow highlights, and breeding males have a breast band.
Adult males are bluish grey with a yellow-green patch on the back and two white wingbars. A black and chestnut band crosses the yellow throat and breast. Females are paler and often lack the breast band; juveniles lack it too.
It quickly picks insects from branch tips. In breeding forests it nests in Spanish moss, beard moss, and other lichens; during migration it also forages in the lower forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
