This grackle inhabits Andean forests in eastern Colombia. Cooperative breeding has been reported, with several members of a group helping to build nests and care for young.
Its plumage is black with a slight gloss. Chestnut feathers are partly hidden on the inner wings and under the wings, and the tail is long and rounded.
Breeding observations recorded several adults in a group helping build a cup-shaped nest and bring food to chicks. The delivered food included insects and spiders.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
