An antshrike of Amazonian lowland forest. The sexes have different plumage, and records also come from northeastern and east-central Peru.
The male is grey with black wings and tail marked by white spots. The female is brown above with yellowish spots and ochraceous-yellow underparts.
It forages in pairs, making short sallies from a perch to catch flying arthropods or taking prey from leaf undersides.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
