The Black-headed Siskin is a finch ranging from Mexico into northern Central America. Breeding males stand out for a black head and yellow belly.
In adult male breeding plumage, the head, throat, and upper breast are black, with a golden-yellow belly. Adult females are paler and have a smaller dark cap.
It feeds almost entirely on seeds. Northern breeding populations move south for winter, while birds elsewhere may shift elevation.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
