The Aztec mastiff bat has dense dark fur on its back. Records extend from Mexico and Central America to parts of South America.
Its dorsal fur is long and dense, ranging from dark cocoa brown to blackish. A pale band at the hair base, when present, is short and covers no more than one quarter of the hair length.
It catches insects in flight at night and has been reported roosting in tree hollows by day. Records describe it in forest habitats.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
