The Bonin White-eye is a small bird endemic to the Ogasawara Islands and now lives on Hahajima and nearby small islands. Historical records also describe a population with yellow, green, and black markings.
A bird seen on Chichijima in 1828 was described as small and marked with yellow, green, and black. This is a historical description of an extinct island population, not a direct description of the living Hahajima population.
On Hahajima it uses both trees and the ground. Observations have recorded pairs singing during the breeding season, allopreening, and resting close together.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
