A small forest bird of central and southeastern South America, it searches for food on the ground and in the lower forest layers. A regional study documented its distribution and habitat in the Yungas of Bolivia and Argentina.
The upperparts are olive-brown, the bill yellowish, and the face and belly pale; a black breast band separates the pale areas.
It walks along the forest floor to find insects and may make short flights to take prey from leaves. Bill-snapping has also been reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
