The Coleto is a starling endemic to the Philippines. A 2022 study at Subic Watershed Forest Reserve on Luzon recorded an Asian Koel laying in one Coleto nest.
Its plumage is black and gray, and it has distinctive bare pink facial skin.
It nests in cavities in living trees or in woodpecker holes in standing dead trees. The paper summarizes earlier sources saying it feeds mainly on fruits and insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
