This spider is known from Tanzania and northern Malawi, with sex differences in eye position and colour.
Male eye groups stand on short outward-directed stalks. Female eye groups lack stalks and lie closer together.
It has been found in Tanzanian forests at Mazumbai, Amani, and the foot of the Livingstone Mountains, among other sites.
Males vary from having faint dark abdominal marks to a plain abdomen. Some have a generally brown eye area or lack the brown bands on the chelicerae.
In females, the eye area and the face below the eyes are not darkened.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
