Berdmore's Berylmys occurs in Indochina and southern China. Records describe a forest-dwelling rat that uses burrows in the ground, including in damp habitats.
The upperparts are described as iron grey and the underparts as white.
Species ecology is poorly known. Reports outside the study area describe it as a terrestrial forest rat, often found in damp upland habitats. In Laos, burrows with several entrances and a central chamber were reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
