The White-breasted Babbler is endemic to Java. It searches among leaves in small groups in the lower and middle layers of moist forest.
White streaks cross its blackish crown and moustache stripe; the ear-coverts and nape are grey. The back and tail are rufous, with grey flanks on a white underside.
It has been found in small single-species flocks and in mixed flocks. Records describe gleaning from leaves and probing dense foliage in the lower forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
