The African Paradise-Flycatcher is an insect-eating bird of forests and woodland edges south of the Sahara. Males have elongated tail feathers, and plumage varies widely.
The male has a glossy blue-black head and crest, with elongated central tail feathers. Rufous forms are common, but white forms also occur; females have shorter tails and duller plumage.
It catches insects and spiders by sallying from perches and moving through foliage. It often forages in the canopy and also eats small berries.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
