A nightjar recorded from the Nechisar Plains of southern Ethiopia. The only confirmed specimen is a single wing, so the full bird and its call remain unknown. The IUCN assessment made on 10 July 2020 classified it as Vulnerable and was published in 2021. Its population trend is unknown.
The 1995 description's abstract identifies the unusual position of a white patch on the primaries of the single salvaged wing. The bird's full colors and pattern remain unknown.
Its call is unknown, and there are no confirmed observations of feeding, breeding or nightly behavior. The IUCN assessment reports that intensive surveys have not confirmed a living bird.
The wing specimen was found beside a road on the Nechisar Plains, a treeless area of natural short grassland on black lava soil. That find location alone does not establish the habitat the bird selects or uses.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
