This mouse occurs on the western Andean slopes of Peru. Records span Ancash to Lima departments from about 200 to 3,800 m, and some accounts note a preference for shrub habitats.
Its back is grayish, with long, soft fur of a gray-yellowish tone. The tail is long and weakly bicolored.
Records include shrub habitats on the western Andes and dry cloud forest. A survey published in 2024 recorded the species in a remnant forest in Lima Department, but one site cannot establish population size or diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
