The 2014 paper summarizes breeding from north-central China to Siberia and wintering in northern Southeast Asia. It also documents three records in Assam, India, in 2012–2013.
The paper describes a small, inconspicuous warbler with olive-brown upperparts, a pale brown to grayish-white throat, a gray breast and a short, stiff tail.
It breeds in low scrub and grass in open forest glades and winters in rank grassland and marshes. The paper gives breeding habitat up to 2,500 m and winter habitat below 1,400 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
