This small mouse opossum is known from three localities in the Andean foothills of southeastern Peru. It appears to climb, but observations remain sparse.
Its back is reddish brown, sharply contrasting with a pale whitish-yellow underside. Dark fur surrounds the eyes, and it has large ears and a long, slender prehensile tail.
Juveniles have been found climbing in bamboo, and one adult was found inside a bamboo stem. The account suggests an arboreal or climbing lifestyle; nocturnal and solitary habits are presented as probable, not confirmed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
