The Madagascar Hoopoe searches for small prey on the ground in dry woodland and other open habitats on the island.
It has a large crest, a long down-curved bill, and black-and-white bars on the wings.
It forages by day, walking on the ground and probing soil for insects and other invertebrates. It also occurs in dry forest, scrub, and plantations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
