The Pied Shrike-Babbler occurs on Java. Males and females differ in plumage, and the species searches for food in forest foliage.
Males are dark above and white below, with a yellow wing panel and white brow. Females are duller, with gray and olive tones.
It searches for prey among foliage in the middle and upper forest levels and may join mixed-species flocks.
