This small babbler occurs in Java's lowlands. It searches through foliage in small groups and eats insects, including beetle eggs.
The crown is rufescent, the breast has a pale rufous band, and the sides of the face are greyish. The sexes have similar plumage.
It uses the lower and middle storeys of open forest and secondary growth in the lowlands, methodically searching tangled foliage in small groups for insects and black beetle eggs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
