Gurney's Eagle is a large forest eagle of New Guinea and nearby islands. Adults are dark brown and search for food on slow, low flights, usually alone or in pairs.
Adults are mostly blackish brown, with paler unfeathered parts of the legs. They have a large head and bill and a fairly long tail. The sexes look similar, though females are larger.
It occurs alone or in pairs and searches its territory by flying slowly close to the ground. It mainly uses primary rain forest and swamp forest, especially along coasts and in lowlands.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
