The Forest Kingfisher is an Australian kingfisher with a blue back and white underside. Males have a white collar, and both sexes hunt from perches.
The head and tail are dark blue, the back is turquoise, and the underparts are white with a white wing patch in flight. Males have a white collar, which females lack.
It watches from branches or wires and dives to catch small animals. For nesting, it may excavate a chamber in a termite mound growing on a tree.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
