The South American hoary bat is an arboreal bat recorded in Argentina in forests and mountain environments.
The dorsal hairs have layered black, white, gray-brown, and reddish-brown tips, giving a frosted look. The ears are short and rounded, and the wings are dark and pointed.
It roosts alone among tree leaves by day and hunts insects above treetops or water at night; moths are an important part of the recorded diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
