This small parrot occurs in Brazil's Atlantic Forest. A study at Ubatuba, São Paulo, in January–February 2011 recorded birds eating unripe Clusia criuva fruit. These feeding notes come from one study area.
Adults observed at Ubatuba had a peach-colored eye-ring and a dark gray cere. Birds thought to be young had a paler eye-ring and flesh-colored cere.
At the Ubatuba study area, the birds fed in fruiting Clusia criuva trees. They ate unripe fruit; some plucked a fruit and carried it to another perch to eat.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
