The Ashaninka Arboreal Chinchilla Rat is a rarely recorded rodent known from a high-elevation cloud forest in Peru. The only known specimen provides a description of its body and stomach contents, but little is known about its life in the wild.
The species account describes a large body, a long tail, and long, broad hind feet. Its back has dense, long, pale-gray fur mixed with black guard hairs.
The only known specimen was found dead in a steep, wet, mossy cloud forest, and its stomach contained plant material.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
