The Henderson Crake is a small rail of Henderson Island's forest floor. A 1992 study recorded it searching for small land animals by moving leaf litter.
Adults are small and dark-plumaged, with a red iris, orange eye-ring, and reddish-orange legs. The study could not distinguish the sexes in the field.
In shady, dense forest understory, it scratched and flicked leaf litter with its bill and feet. Land snails and insects were found in two examined stomachs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
